Grumpy Goby was our first soft plastic bait, conceived in Waterloo, Ontario to address the exploding need for Goby baits in the Great Lakes region.  As Gobies expanded their presence to the area, anglers noticed a considerable change in feeding behaviour, switching feeding habits from traditional smelt and minnows to Round Goby.  Tournament anglers, charter captains, avid anglers and weekend warriors all changed their approach to fishing, moving to Goby patterns and colors.  For trollers, spoons changed from silver to copper.  For bass anglers and anyone casting, moving to Goby imitations meant catching more fish - however, the selection of Goby baits was limited. Enter GRUMPY Bait Company and our first Goby imitation - Grumpy Goby.  This is a hand-designed bait this is proven to catch more fish than even traditional methods such as tube jigs.

  • Large goby head and eyes help predator-fish identify the bait as a Goby
  • Bait shape (bottom-view, side-view, top-view) is designed to match Round Gobies
  • Signature Grumpy face seduces fish into an aggressive, dominant strike
  • Flat-bottom design ensures Grumpy Goby remains right-side up
  • Each bait is unique and individually hand-poured
  • Loaded with our signature Hawg and Garlic sauce!
  • Loaded with hand-ground, sea salt so fish hang on longer
  • 6 pieces per bag

GOBY FACTS: WHY GRUMPY BAITS CAN HELP YOU INCREASE YOUR CATCHES BY OVER 73%

In Lake Erie, "Crayfish were the most common prey of smallmouth bass prior to invasion of round goby (observed in 53.5% of diets). Round goby became the dominant prey of smallmouth bass after its invasion (observed in 73.3% of diets), and crayfish were only observed in 5.8% of diets in the post-round goby time period.
